Your dentist appointment isn’t a one-way street. Just like the dentist asks about your hygiene, it’s just as important to ask your dentist questions about your dental health. Whether you go once a year or more often, here are some starter questions to get more out of your next visit.

Question: Is there anything else I should include in my daily routine?

Tell your dentist how you care for your teeth, including what products you’re using. Let them know how you brush and floss and if you notice any bleeding or pain.

Question: Should I add anything to my dental maintenance?

Tell your dentist how often you typically schedule dental visits. They may suggest that you come in more frequently for cleanings and exams.

Question: Is there anything I should change about my diet?

Your dentist may notice signs of erosion, which may mean that you’re eating too many sugary or acidic foods. They may also be able to tell if you’re not getting enough vitamins, like vitamin C.

Question: Do you notice anything I should tell my physician about?

There may be warning signs or side effects from certain medications that your dentist may want you to address with your primary care physician.

If you have any other questions, write them down and bring them to your appointment so you can get the most help from your dentist.
