Next Monday, take some time to enjoy the teachings of Dr. King with your whole family.

Martin Luther King Jr. did many things for the American people and you and your family can honor his work in a plethora of ways. Whether you can get outside and celebrate in your community, or only have time for a gathering at home, these two methods are sure to celebrate diversity. For the ambitious families, try both! May we all keep the dream alive in these important times!

Celebrating Outside
In honor of the many marches MLK peacefully organized, one of the best ways to celebrate this special day is taking to the streets in an organized MLK parade. These parades are organized to promote harmony, community, and the respect of all cultures. There are many parades happening all over the country, especially in major metropolitan areas like Los Angeles (http://www.kingdomdayparade.org/) and Houston (http://www.mlkgrandeparade.org/). So put on those sneakers and take to the streets!

Celebrating at Home
Martin Luther King appreciated all cultures and hoped for everyone to have a seat at the same table. Try a multicultural banquet at home, serving dishes from as many cultures as possible. Support your local businesses, but don’t forget the peach pie to honor King’s hometown of Atlanta! If possible, you can even potluck with friends and family, assigning a culture or country to each group!
