On the Go? 4 Key Dental Tips Just for You!

Tuesday, September 20, 2016

We’re all set in our busy schedules, but it’s important not to forget about the health of your mouth and teeth. Luckily, we have quick and easy tips even the busiest multi-taskers can fit into the day:

Tip 1: Keep travel-sized toothpaste, floss, mouthwash and a toothbrush with you. Just bag them up and throw them your purse or laptop bag, or keep them at your desk at work. This leaves you always prepared to take care of your mouth, and comes in handy if you’re working late or running errands all day.

Tip 2: If you find yourself toothbrush-less, keep sugar-free gum on hand. Chewing gum helps stimulate saliva flow, which clears away bacteria and food particles and neutralizes acids. Do not chew gum that contains sugar, as it will cancel out the benefits of gum chewing.

Tip 3: Drink a lot of water. Staying hydrated is essential to staying healthy. Not only will drinking plenty of water every day help flush your body of toxins, but it will also flush your mouth of cavity-causing bacteria. Make sure to drink it with every meal and keep bottles on-hand and in your car.

Tip 4: Make you time for regular dentist visits. No matter how crazy your schedule, it’s important to visit your dentist annually to help detect and avoid potentially major dental problems that could cost more time (and money) if not treated early.
