4 Ways to Keep Kids Active During Summer Break
Tuesday - September 20th, 2016
Why do kids love summer so much? Maybe it’s because they have fewer responsibilities, and can spend the day hanging out in front of the TV, often eating unhealthy snacks. But these lazy summer days are no good for their health. Instead, find creative ways to keep their days busy and fun.
- Summer sports league: Sign up kids for summer sports to help them stay active. This is also a great way to make new friends and learn about teamwork.
- Try new activities: If your kids aren’t interested in sports, look for other summer classes they’ll enjoy, like martial arts, dance, or swimming.
- Stay fit as a family: Having active family time is a wonderful way to teach kids about the importance of exercise while spending time together. Try hiking, biking, playing in the park, or simply taking a walk to get everyone moving.
- Keep active toys around: Make it easier for kids to take a break from the TV by having toys that encourage activity, like Frisbees, jump ropes, hula-hoops, water guns, racket balls, or croquet sets. These are sure to keep kids running around all summer!
