New year, new resolutions!

New Year’s Resolutions help us put our best foot forward to improving ourselves in the next year. Don’t let your New Year’s Resolution go to waste this year. Here are four New Year’s Resolutions and how you can achieve them!

1. Start eating healthier food, and less food overall:
Switching to a healthier diet can be trick when surrounded by junk food. However, with determination and some basic tips you can slowly develop better eating habits. Keep a food diary and log all your daily meals to see what you are eating. Before purchasing foods, read the labels to make sure the ingredients are natural. If you can do this and be aware of emotional eating, you will have a healthier diet.

2. Stop Procrastinating:
The biggest barrier that keeps people from reaching their goals is procrastination. The appeal to do something easy and fun always seems greater than working hard and getting the task done. There are many tips to stop you from procrastinating, like the 2-minute rule. It if takes less than two minutes to do a task, then do it now. Things like washing your dishes immediately after your meal, tossing the laundry in the laundry machine, or even taking out the garbage are things we tend to put off that can be accomplished in two minutes.

3. Improve your concentration and mental skills:
People are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve their focus and cognitive capacities. There are many apps for your smart phone that can help you with brain games to sharpen your focus. Other things, like meditation can help boost your concentration and hone your mental skills. If you keep at this, you will be able to help control your mood, learn faster, and have an easier time solving problems.

4. Meet new people:
When we find ourselves feeling down, we usually end up staying at home missing out on opportunities for networking and having fun. Meeting new people can help your mental well-being and career. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and find new friends! Overcome shyness, gain some knowledge, and get to know people you see everyday but normally were too scared to converse with.
